The former governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, has cautioned the nation’s leadership on easing on easing the lockdown in the country.
In his Tweeter handle, Peter Obi, popularly called “Okwute,” wrote, “Till date, we have tested less than 10,000 for #COVID19, and this data cannot give us a true reflection of the status of the pandemic in our country.”
He therefore advised that, “easing the lockdown in any part of Nigeria should be done with extreme caution.”
The closure of NCDC office in Kano and increasing number of mysterious deaths including high profile persons give cause to worry to many concerned Nigerians.
As at 11.20 pm yesterday 27th April, 2020, 1,337 cases have been confirmed on covid 19 pandemic in Nigeria. Forty persons have died while 255 have been discharged.
Sxty four new cases have been reported with 34 coming from Lagos, 15 from FCT, 11 from Borno while Taraba and Gombe have 2 each.
Cautioning the way the matter is being handled in Nigeria, Dr. Dijo Awojide, in his Tweeter, said, “The UK ended up with over 20,000 deaths because the Prime Minister pussyfooted in the first few weeks.
“Their main focus was saving the economy. That had to change to saving lives. Nigeria can learn so much from other countries, then shape our own local solutions,” Dr. Awojide submitted.
