To join fully in the fight against the ravaging covid – 19, the Catholic Church in Nigeria has volunteered all her 425 hospitals and clinics nationwide for adoption and use as isolation centers in the country.
Presidential Task Force Chairman and Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha disclosed during routine daily to the nation on covid – 19 on Monday.
”As part of efforts to support the states in the establishment of isolation centres, Iwish to remind our governors that the Catholic Bishops Conference has volunteered all the 425 hospitals and clinics nationwide for adoption and use as isolation centres.
”Governors are encouraged to please approach Catholic Bishops in their areas to access these facilities.”
Detailing on this development, SGF Mustapha said he wished that the states had been encouraged to set up isolation centres, wards [including ICU] with a minimum of 300 beds each.
He explained that that would help to accommodate levels 1 and 2 cases. He disclosed that with increase in numbers, they were beginning to experience a shortage of bed spaces in isolation centres, especially in high burden areas.
