The Commissioner for Environment in Abia State of Nigeria, Dr. Solomon Ogunji is dead.
He died yesterday [Saturday] at the Abia State Teaching Hospital after a sickness related to high blood pressure.
Disclosing this in a confirmation to the breaking news, Commissioner for Information in Abia State, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, said, ”It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the demise of a member of Abia State Executive Council and Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Solomon Ogunji, who passed away on Saturday, 23rd May, 2020 at the the Abia State Teaching Hospital, after a brief illness related to high blood pressure.
”Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, who received the sad news with shock yesterday has personally communicated and condoled with the family of the bereaved and is currently in mourning.”
Engr. Ogunji, Ph.D, contested for Abia South Senatorial seat against the incumbent Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe but lost. He was sworn-in as Abia State Commissioner for Environment in October 2019.
Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji mourned the demise of a man he described as a loyal party member.
