Home Developemental Journalism APC vs PDP: WK 2 DAY 6: COVID-19, JOB CREATION.

We are still in WK 2 but in the sixth day of the competition in the week. APC is leading and PDP is overtaking, not only in COVID – 19 but in job creation as well. Let’s see how they performed yesterday in the COVID – 19 challenge.

Out of 36 states and FCT, only 21 states and FCT were represented in yesterday’s COVID -19 competition, and out of our chosen 6 states, only four participated.

A total of 594 cases were confirmed, and out of the figure, Oyo State has 33 cases; Kaduna also has 33; Enugu, 28; and Rivers, 6. Two of the APC states: Kano and Borno proved very tough for the ravaging killer virus. Both had none of the citizens harassed by the pandemic. Up APC states.

In contrast, all the three PDP states of Enugu, Oyo and Rivers had their territories invaded by the vicious virus. While APC, through State of Kaduna, has 33 suspects; PDP, through her representatives of Enugu, Oyo and Rivers has a full bag of 67 coronavirus suspects.

As for Nigeria our country, 22,614 cases have been confirmed, 7, 822 of it discharged while 549 persons have died of coronavirus, according to the NCDC.

Gov. Ganduje of Kano State

When two elephents fight, of course the answer is in the negative. Then, when Governors Ganduje of Kano and Ugwuanyi of Enugu states respectively create jobs, what happens? The answer is simple: the youths enjoy. Very positive and elevating.

See what they did. Ganduje has spent N50m in training youths as automobile mechanics. They were 1,000 in number and came in batches of 200 for each batch, and it involved both male and female citizens of the State.

They were sponsored by the Kano State Government to be trained as automobile mechanics with the PEUGEOT Automobile Kaduna. The sum of N420m was paid for the training while tools worth N80m were purchased for them as start-ups.

On their graduation ceremony as young auto mechanics, Gov. Ganduje said, ”Considering our population which makes us vulnerable, we find it necessary to train our youths in various skills to provide employment for them.

”Apart from the employment, we are also filling the gap by providing efficient auto mechanic services in the State which prior to this was scarce. We have built ten auto mechanic centres to support all of them as they graduate,” Gov. Ganduje disclosed.

Other youths were also trained in other areas of skill as vulcanizers, tricycle operators, carpenters, etc. Kano has a skill acquisition training centre which is named after one of their sons, Aliko Dangote. Each of the graduands was given start-up kits and cash support of N5O,000 for take off.

Gov. Ugwuanyi of Enugu State

”I have come here because of the premium this Administration places on private initiative, which is very, very strategic to our economy. Since it has become obvious that no government drives the economy alone, it also provides enabling environment for other private investors to thrive,” that was His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State while partnering with Lead Travel Services to create over 10,000 jobs and raise investment opportunities in the State.

The Governor, represented by Elder Gabriel Ajah, said while inaugurating the new transport company, that Enugu State remains the most investment friendly in the country, and South East in particular, having been adjudged number one state in ease-of- doing business by 2018 World Bank Report.

THIS IS THE KORNER KICK. Between APC and PDP, which has added more values to Nigerian youths? Send your answers with facts and figures to the editor@nationguardnews.com or okeosisifidel@gmail.com.
