Wednesday militant attack on Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno State has been described as callous and reprehensive.
The Northern Governors’ Forum Chairman, Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau State condemned the attack. In a press by Dr. Makut Macham, his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gov. Lalong said that the act was to frustrate Gov. Zulum’s efforts in ensuring the well being of the vulnerable in Borno State.
Chairman Gov. Lalong said that the incident was a desperate attempt by criminal elements to sabotage his counterpart’s efforts towards reducing the sufferings of IDPs who had been traumatized by the terrorists.
”This regrettable attack shows the desperation by enemies of peace and humanity at large to jeopardize all efforts towards making life easier for victims of violence in the State over the years.
”The Northern Governors’ Forum strongly condemns this attack and stands with Gov. Zulum who demonstrated courage in personally reaching out to people in need despite the dangers.
”We urge him not to be deterred as he keeps working with security agencies to protect the lives and property of the people,” Gov. Lalong said.
Gov. Zulum’s convoy was attacked on Wednesday on his way to Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of the State on his way to distribute palliatives to the Internally Displaced Persons [IDPs] in the State.
