Members of the Market Leaders Association of Nigeria and members of the larger society have been warned never to buy stolen or vandalized goods or equipments that might come their ways. Dropping this warning on Thursday 29, October at Okota area of Lagos during the first post covid-19 and the #EndSARS Protests, the Youth Leader of the Association, Mr. Okechukwu Uzuegbunam warned of the danger of patronizing persons that would come with goods and items that were vandalized during the recent the #EndSARS protestsin the country. According to him, purchasing anything of such from anybody could be suicidal in that one might be arrested and prosecuted for stealing, aiding and abetting the hoodlums and vandals that stole, vandalized them. Mr. Uzuegbunam disclosed that some of the shops demolished, goods vandalized were those of the members. The goods stolen were theirs as well. Therefore, he appealed to the members to be careful and to inform others who could not attend the meeting since the covid-19 and the #EndSARS protests began. Chief John Nnaoma collaborated the view of Uzuegbunam adding that victims affected, shops vandalized as well as items lost should be documented by the Association.
The President, Deacon C. F. C Obi disclosed that arrangements were being made to pay a visit to Gov. Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State while governors of Ondo and Osun would be written letters of commendation for their actions in quelling the protests. He commended the efforts of Ohanaeze Lagos State President, Dr. Solomon Aguene, for efforts made towards welfare of Igbos in Lagos State. He announced that some governors in the South East of the country have been asking Market Leaders Association to come and inspect large expanse of lands available to establish markets. Deacon Obi mentioned such governors as Sen. Hope Uzodimma of Imo State who provided land in Mgbidi and Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State who allegedly has a large space in the 9th Mile area of the State.
On the Ofala festival of Ezeigbo Amuwon Odofin who invited the Association for the event holding in November 14, 2020; President Obi disclosed cloth to be used at N2,000 was available and compulsory for every member, adding that the uniform would be an outing dress for every member. Other events ahead, according to Deacon Obi, included attending funeral ceremony of late mother of Assistant PRO who would be buried in November this year, and thanksgiving ceremony of Ohanaeze PRO on first Sunday in November at Apapa area of Lagos.
