The above subject matter is to bring us back on track. We humans are the beloved of God, from the advent of creation. We are the only creation that God perfected and crowned with glory. He bestowed us with much glory that at creation, He deliberated with the Host of Heaven over our creation. He called them and give specifications to our creation in His image and likelihood. If I do not exaggerate, He created humans with much finesse that the Psalms asked… What is the man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
He continued to emphasize on human creation when he says… You made him a little lower than the angels… (Psalm 8: 4-5). That is how great and lovingly God the Creator of the universe made man.
With all this endowment, when the voice of God called out to Adam, saying, ”Where are you? He responded thus: “I hear thy voice and fear for I am naked’ was never what God was ever expecting to hear.
God the Almighty was expecting to hear from the man whom He invested the totality of His love unto; whom He had created in His own image; whom all other creations of God were handed over to for him to take dominion over not to never be defiant in nature.
No, total obeisance was what God expected Adam alongside his wife, and by extension, the entire humanity.
Till today, man still stands invariant to God. Man refuses to behave in accordance with the dictates of God. Man finds delight in doing what God abhors.
We refuse to stand by God in all things, but go after frivolities such as things which are against the leading of God. No wonder the Bible in the book of Proverbs 6: 18-19 says … There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Men never lower his or her gaze to God but stood with arms akimbo at God with impunity always; man lies with passion as if they cannot do without it. A child who is supposed to be pure and be presumed to know nothing, this days, need no one to teach him or her how to lie. That is how serious it is that a 6-year-old child will like just to avert being punish for his or her wrongdoings. No wonder a man or woman who was ordained a pastor, prophet, prophetess, apostle will lie without blinking an
Till date, man kills with little or no provocations just as we are witnessing all over the world in the recent times. To kill, these days become something which people takes glory over, something killers now gloat over. What a defiant man, who refuses to hearken to the voice of his Creator.
The heart of men is full of deceit and wickedness. How would we say of people who claimed to be children of God but full of deceit. Businesswise, they can never be truthful; martially they are deceitful. Even, they take delight in using the name of God to defraud unsuspecting members of the Church. What a shame of people. No wonder the Bible says the mind of God concerning how he felt bad for creating man in His likelihood (Gen. 6:6) and goes ahead to say that the heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9).
Hand of men are quick to shed blood. Women abort and kill fellow humans all in the name of unwanted pregnancy. If you do not want to be a mother, why involve in a sexual activity. Note, killing is killing be it removal of your so-called ‘unwanted’ or killing by shooting or ritual-killing, all amounts to killing which is shedding of blood in the sight of God.
Mind you, heart of men is forever scheming evil. Against his bother or his sisters; against his friend who at one time or the other helped him in time of difficulties; against his wife or her husband who had been there for him or her at one point in time.
Hmm, truly, the heart of man is evil.
Brethren, as we move towards the lent period, which is basically the season for sober reflection, let us reflect on our lives; let us search our conscience and by so doing, seek for forgiveness from God.
Mend our ways and never go back to our evil ways as we pledged before God not to indulge in sins again. On a closing note today, I plead to all Christians, who are children of God, to make the book of 2 Corinthians 6: 14-18; Isaiah 52: 11-12 our watchword.
