By Alawode Omotunde (Woman in His Vineyard)

The Bible says in the book of Psalms 37: 24-25, and I quote: ‘Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand. I once was young and now am old, yet never have I seen the righteous abandoned or their children begging for bread.’

Upon this above Bible quote do I base today’s word from the vineyard of God. When Jesus Christ is preached to new converts and in fact all Christians, we all love to hold on to the good tidings that it entails. We love to hear about the passion God has for us when we are yet a sinner that He gave His only-begotten Son to us for our redemption from damnation (John 3:16);

We love the fact that Christ came to redeem us from our sins hence, we are saved from damnation (I Timothy 1:15);

We love to know that He said, come unto me all ye that are heavily laden and I will give you rest. With that notion, we, desire His rest without knowing what we have to give in return but with all our soul interest of being satisfied (Matthew 11:28-30);

We love to drink Him for He is the Living spring for whosoever drinks of Him will never thirst (John 4:14; Rev. 21: 6).;

We are eager to eat the Bread of life, which Jesus is, and so we quickly rush to Him (John 6:35);

Accepting Jesus Christ gave us the opportunity to know the Way, the Truth and Life, and we are eager to go unto the Father through Him (John 14” 5);

We were told that God is the all Provider and because our wants are very many, we rush to hacking to Him so He can provide all our many wants and satisfy our desires (Psalm 65: 9-13);

We love to walk in Him because He is the Light (John 8: 12);

We accepted Him because He is the good shepherd. For we know and believe He would care and protect us (John 10:11);

We would inherit Him as He will be our God and we His sons and daughters (Rev. 21:7; John 14” 16-17)

We cliff to Jesus Christ because we appreciate the fact that belonging to Him make us partakers of the Divine nature of God (2Peter 1:4)

And above all, He is the sacrificial Lamb (John 1:29).

That we would reign as king with Him is therefore also part of our union with Him (Isaiah 9: 6-7)

With all the above assertions, of which we have benefited and would still do if we hold thee forth till Christ comes to take all His sons and daughters, many believer presumed that because they are called into the fold of God they would never experience ups and down. And so, whenever they have situation, which, they feel must not be, take for example, they are childless, jobless, poor, sick, and even that they lose their loved ones, they tend to believe that God has forsaken them.

But I say unto us all that, as Christians, we are going to face persecutions, same as our Lord Jesus Christ faced His.

We would see tribulations but we should be rest assured that Christ has conquered the world, and for sure, we would come out triumphant.

We would have to sweat to make our way in life but with the assurance that we would never lack in all spheres.

For Christians, there is the likelihood of ups and downs, but we would overcome for our Jesus Christ overcame all temptations that came His way;

We must be prepared that all souls shall return to the Creator through the state of death but with victory over death as we would resurrect with our Lord Jesus Christ and reign with Him;

Our Lord Jesus Christ has already promised to hold our hands so, we would never be overwhelmed with all the persecutions, tribulations, temptation, unexpected swings of life (Psalms 37: 24).

And as we grow from youth to our old age, yet, never would Jesus Christ abandon us nor would He allow us, nor our children beg for bread.

On this parting note, I say, in whatever situation, lets be rest assured with this hymn.. Hold the fort

1.  Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

“Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;

Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”
    2.  See the Mighty host advancing, Satan leading on; Mighty ones around us falling, courage almost gone!

“Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”

3.   See the glorious banner waving! Hear the trumpet blow!
    In our Leader’s Name we triumph over every foe.

        “Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;
        Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”

4.  Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near;
        Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades, cheer!

        “Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;
        Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”
