Sorry, the truth must be said. Christians must never be equally yoked with darkness. We are the children of Light, and we must never mingle with people of darkness for what concordance do we have in common. (2 Corinthians 6: 14 -17).

It’s quite obvious these days that evil has taken over our nation. Evil-minded people are now living in our neigbourhoods, smartly mingled with us in our churches, and pretend to be our brothers or sisters. In fact, we could have been married into the family of children of darkness.

The Bible instructs us to watch and pray (Matthew 25:41) and according to Amplified Bible, all Christians (disciples of God) must be strictly attentive, be cautious and active, while you watch ad pray that you may not come into temptation.

Let me expatiate by telling us all that, when we are strictly attentive, we must be attentive to all that surrounds us.

You must be attentive to happenings around you. The word heaven helps those who help themselves is not for any lazy Christian who refuses to pay attention to the time and season he or she is in.

While watching, we would be able to see what is about to happen, what is happening, and what would be happening in the future. While we watch, it will give room for readiness and preparedness.

We must be prepared at all times because we are alive and active to respond to stimulus, we would be able to respond accordingly because we are watching and alive.

We are not called a Christian to be docile but rather to be watchful. In fact, the Bible emphasized the act by which all watchman should inform the rest if there is a sword coming, or else the blood let in such an occasion will be counted upon the watchman that never warns.

On this note, I would want to quote the Bible in the book of Ezekiel chapter 33: 2-6 verbatumly says thus: “Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blows the trumpet, and warns the people;

Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

But if the watchman sees the sword come, and blows not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword comes, and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.

Therefore, bredren and children of the Most High God, the signs of perilous times are seen every corner of the world, prayers alone cannot quash the situation, for if there is fire on the rooftop and the father of the house refused to dowse it with water or call for reinforcement to put the fire off but went to sleep, it’s sure such a father wants his family roasted by the inferno. But if he puts off the fire, he saves his household.

Watchfulness is not limited to the male gender but rather to all human beings; all that believe in the Bible and teachings of Christ, and also accepted that the Bible is the word of God; those that read, meditate and strive to do all that God asked of us.

Prayers can fetch water from the well nor can it bring cooked food unto the table. We the prayer warriors must fetch water if we need it and fetch the food from the kitchen unto the table if that is what we wanted, so, we need to do the needful at all times and make the watchful instinct in us act accordingly and our senses do what its meant for.

We are not called to be docile beings; we are not to be sleeping when we should be active. No wonder the Bible says in the book of Matthew 13:25 ‘But while everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and slipped away. Let’s be awake and alert to all necessary things. Let’s do our bit in all that we need to do and not heap our responsibilities upon God alone.

For so the saying goes, ‘Heaven helps those who help themselves.” Till we meet next week, I say….

Christian, seek not yet repose,
Hear thy gracious Savior say;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.
Principalities and powers,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thy unguarded hours:
Watch and pray.

Gird thy heavenly armor on,
Wear it ever night and day;
Ambushed lies the evil one:
Watch and pray.
Hear the victors who o’ercame,
Still they mark each warrior’s way;
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
Watch and pray.

Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word:
Watch and pray.
Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
Watch and pray.

Where will you be when the trumpet shall sound? FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!! WomaninHisVineyard.
