A four-man armed gang operating in Anambra State has been neutralised by the State Command.
The gang members were in a commercial bus which they boarded at Nnewi but were accosted at a checkpoint for a search at Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of the State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga in press release sent to The NationGuardNews, in an attempt to search them, ”One of the hoodlums alighted, pulled a barrett pistol and was gunned down.” A search was made on the bag they were travelling and a dagger was discovered. The other three were arrested immediately.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye who praised the Police Personnel for their vigilance has directed State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for thorough investigation.
He has also ordered the immediate release of two elderly passengers who boarded the bus at a different location.
The Command wishes to assure the good people of Anambra State that it will always live up to its responsibility in safeguarding lives and property of all law abiding citizens in the State.
