Nollywood actor, John Okafor, who is popularly known as Mr Ibu, has been reported dead at the age of 62 years.
Okafor who had been ill since October 2023 was said to have died of cardiac arrest on Saturday, March 2, in Evercare hospital in Lekki, after being moved to the intensive care unit a few days ago.
According to Arise News TV, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Dr. Emeka Ejezie Rollas, also confirmed his death in his Instagram post.
It would be recalled that in October 2023, the veteran actor was reported ill and required financial assistance. Then in November 2023, his family confirmed that one of his legs had been amputated to keep him alive. The amputation became necessary because of an infection of the arteries at the ankle that was not detected early enough.
Among those that mourn his death included former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, some of his fellow celebrities and colleagues including Mercy Johnson Okojie, Ruth Kadiri, etc.
