The Chairman, Senate Committee on Turn Around Maintenance (TAM), Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has emphasized on the importance of prioritizing refinery maintenance to enhance operational efficiency in order to reduce Nigeria’s age long reliance on imported petroleum products

Senator Ubah was speaking on Thursday, 18 April, 2024, during the inspection tour of the Committee to Warri refinery. Expressing confidence in the diligent oversight and monitoring processes, Sen Ubah who represents Anambra South Senatorial District, also expressed his optimism in the successful completion of the TAM projects and envisioned a future where Nigeria’s petroleum industry operates with heightened efficiency and self-sufficiency, bolstering the nation’s economic resilience and energy security.

As the Chairman of the Committee, Senator (Dr) Ubah, CON, spearheaded a significant initiative as he led members of the Ad-hoc Committee on an oversight visit to the refinery. The primary objective of the visit was to investigate the progress of the ongoing TAM Projects within the Nigerian refineries.

During the comprehensive tour, Senator Ubah and the committee meticulously inspected the various operational units of the Warri Refinery. Their observations provided valuable insights into the advancement of the TAM projects and offered an opportunity to address any challenges encountered.
Additionally, the delegation extended a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the esteemed Olu of Warri, at his palace, symbolizing respect and collaboration with local leadership.

While on the visit, the committee also held fruitful engagements with key stakeholders. Expressing confidence in the diligent oversight and monitoring processes, Senator Ubah also expressed his optimism in the successful completion of the TAM projects and envisioned a future where Nigeria’s petroleum industry operates with heightened efficiency and self-sufficiency, bolstering the nation’s economic resilience and energy security.

This oversight visit epitomized the 10th senate’s commitment towards fostering development and progress within Nigeria’s crucial energy sector.

Amongst the delegation that visited the refinery included officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) led by its Executive Vice President (Downstream), Mr Dapo Segun.
