Kano State House of Assembly has reinstated the dethroned Emir of Kano, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.
In a resolution by the Assembly, the decision rose out of the need to dismantle the four new emirates in the State established under the controversial law during the regime of former governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.
The bill to achieve this was sponsored by the Majority Leader of Assembly, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa. According to the Amendment Bill passed on Thursday, ”the bill has been sent to the Governor for assent. It shows that there is now no active emir in Kano in all the five emirates of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye.
It will be recalled that the former Kano Emirate was broken into five emirates which was seen as a political manoeuvre aim at diminishing the influence of then Emir Sanusi 11 who incidentally a strong critic of then Gov Ganduje.
