Thirteen students of Federal Government College, Enugu, Southeast, Nigeria have been suspended from the school for allegedly bullying a fellow student.

The three-week suspension as announced in a statement by Director of Press and Public Relations, Folashade Boriowo, was ordered by Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.

Following a viral video showing the students involved in the bullying, Alausa reiterated the Ministry’s strong commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment across all federal schools in the country.

The Ministry allegedly received a recent report which involved a gang assault on an SS1 day student. This sparked concerns over safety and discipline in the school.

The Minister therefore directed the School-Based Management to work with security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation. To reinforce, law enforcement officers are being deployed to the College and existing security measures are under review.
