The Police Command in Anambra has warned the people to be more conscious of their safety than any other thing during this festive period.
The call was made on Sunday by the spokesman of Anambra Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga while issuing a statement in Awka.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), SP Ikenga warned residents as well visitors of the danger of dropping cigarette buts carelessly and recklessly where inflammable materials abound. He advised that care must be taken in setting refuse, dry materials, bushes, etc ablaze now that harmattan is around.
He further warned the public against the use of fireworks and other explosives, careless handling of receptacles for trash, and poor handling of electrical appliances, among others.
The police authority then urged residents to partner with the police command to provide them with the right atmosphere for a smooth festive period.
