You want to travel to Abuja from Owerri, or from anywhere else to somewhere else of distance, you board a plane, ride a car or train, or ship. People made them. You don’t disappear from your house and appear in your desired location after prayers.
You want to acquire knowledge, skill and certificates that will get you a job or career to make a living, you enroll in a school, get schooled and certified duly later. People made them.
You want to fix your car, you call or go to a mechanic and he does it with his tools. People made them.
You want to get News, you turn on the television or Radio, or your phone or laptop and get them within the twinkling of an eye. People made them.
You want to build a house, you go buy cement, blocks and other building materials. People made them.
You want to dress up for work, church, party or even sleep, you put on the appropriate clothes. People made them.
You become famous and influential enough to need extra security, you employ private and state security agents who carry weapons, or drive bullet proof SUVs and feel safe. People made them.
You are hungry and need to eat, you go and buy the food items. People made them.
Your sight is failing from age or medical condition, you get medicated glasses and they help you read clearly. People made them.
The things you use in your home and churches, people made them. Not one was prophesied or prayed or fasted into existence by any of our ‘powerful prophets’.
Yet, you proudly tell people that the power of the almighty God is what we see when people fall down as our powerful prophets blow breeze into the microphone or raise their hands? So the power of the god you serve is only in making you fall under the anointing, or to rhapsodize words in ecstasy?
So, if you want to see a display of the power of God, you will leave the planets orbiting their stars, the stars caressing space, gravity that commands the planetary bodies, the mechanism that makes seeds grow in the soil, the principles behind cars, aeroplanes, television, internet and the knowledge that produces them, and then go to look for it in a place where people fall down and rise?
How did you get to the point where you see the man who blows air into the crowd to make people fall into hysteria, ecstasy and tears as more powerful than the man who made the car, television, internet and phone all of us, including the one that blows air use?
If the God who parted the Red Sea in Exo 14 isn’t the same God behind the invention of ships and other technologies that have made crossing the Red Sea today easier, then the Exodus God is actually a magician and nothing more. Sadly, magicians offer no real solution but mere entertainment.
Stop reducing God’s power to the things that excite your affective predisposition. Stop disgracing the name and power of God.
Tomorrow is Sunday, if you like don’t go and worship God in spirit and truth, or where they worship him in spirit and truth, instead of looking for power that makes a caricature of your intelligence and Faith.
