In the build up to Anambra State governorship election, many APGA bigwigs in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State massively defected to most essentially APC. The most potent feeling then was that, with Andy Ubah who had the ticket of APC, APC’s win was a fait accompli.
Giving Andy Ubah’s political antecedent, everyone believed that he had the capacity to influence the results of the governorship election in favour of APC. The politicians in other political parties were in concert afraid that the party could match Andy’s winning formula. They left in large numbers, especially from APGA and PDP.
Emma Nwachukwu, Onodugo, a political debutant who could be described as a rookie , had APGA fall like a pack of damp, dead wood on his thighs. Thank God for the presence of the LGA TC chairman, even most of the party LGA executives were not very reliably loyal to the party as most of their patrons had defected to APC.

Emma had to grapple with party crisis management, the attendant integrity deficit of members and the paucity of funds for oiling party machinery.
In order to have a platform to join the race for the Anambra South Senatorial seat. It must have been a very daunting task, rearranging the party executive structure from local government area down to the ward levels. The integrity deficits really impacted negatively on Emma Nwachukwu Onodugo at the primaries.
The multiple roles played by Emma and his loyalists in APGA Nnewi South and the Anambra South in general, ought now to be rewarded with overwhelming response and support as a pat on his back for a yeoman’s job in sustaining the part then in crisis.
