(A SOCIAL RE-ENGINEERING CAMPAIGN)

By Ofoneme Daniel-Scott

I have been moved to share my opinion about ‘get rich quick syndrome’ amongst our youths. You can call me old school, but I’m a believer of process before success.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an enemy of progress and I believe people can get very rich at young age because our talent, grace and destiny differ. Young footballers, young tech guys and young entertainers etc can hit it real big, real quick.

But for people like that, it is not complex yet has its laid processes.

I am talking about youths who wish they can become whoever they admire, by focusing majorly on their social media chilling pictures and videos. While these men appear invincible, looking all glamorous and luxurious while enjoying their lives, it is not all enjoyment 24/7. There are moments of tedious work, brainstorming moments, deep thinking moments, sleepless nights, disappointments and days of sweaty body.

Having worked closely with Chief Dr. Chidi Anayegbu,CON of Chisco Group, I’m amazed at the dedication and deep thinking he commits to business despite sleeping and waking up a Billonaire for over 30 years and counting. Bring a business idea and watch him dissect it in minutes, pointing out possible loopholes and discussing the credit facility like an experienced businessman he is, that will help you understand why he was able to get to that level. N:B- Chisco Started off as a truck pusher before going into spare parts apprenticeship , was settled with #120 naira seed money before going into business that led to the purchase of his first bus and the rest they say is history.

Have you seen Chief Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Motors in his car Assembly plant? . Once you let Ifediaso Nnewi discuss vehicle manufacturing, you will see the passion for the business and the level of work he commits everyday to make things work. Innoson also started with spare parts business put in years of work that grew the business to this point.

How about Cletus Ibeto, Emma Bishop Okonkwo, Dangote,Otedola,Tony Elumelu, Cosmos Maduka, Okoya of Eleganza, Jezco, Emeka Offor,Arthur Eze etc , they all have their stories to tell

I follow Obi Cubana, E-Money and Zenco too, I enjoy their luxurious lifestyle, but I have also seen pictures and videos of them at work.

I’m sure many have not seen Jowizaza climbing vessels and tanks to inspect them, they only see the lifestyle.

Even the entertainers go through a lot making movies and music, sometimes they retake many scenes, re-record a lot of times and even footballers and sports people would have to train hard, make sacrifices with time and feeding habit plus injury just to stay at the top.

This is getting longer than planned, but my point is that for one to make omelette you have to break an egg, so when people around you spend money lavishly be able to ask questions like ; When did you break the egg?

Okeite; many great destinies of youth have been shattered by this evil practice

Again, when you see successful people enjoy luxury always remember that behind that luxury lies hardwork, grace, dedication and consistency.

For those already enjoying their omelettes, when you see someone looking for his own egg to break or struggling to break his own egg, please do well to support him in anyway you can.

Finally don’t just pray for wealth, pray for opportunities, God does not give wealth , he gives opportunities for you to make money or be successful. But don’t just pray for opportunities, pray for the grace to know an opportunity when it comes, some opportunities are buried in dirt and if you are not at alert you won’t even know when it comes.

Kidnappers arrested by the police while plying the evil trade

I also endorse the current social re-engineering being championed by Governor Soludo, because he himself is a product of process before success, we must join hands to change the orientation of our youth population, so that evil can give way for change.

For our successful business men and women in different fields on endeavor and our celebrities, you have a role to play too. Since the Social media have become a powerful tool of influence please do well to show us your work mode pictures and videos, just as you share your luxurious lifestyle so that our youths can see that truly enjoyment comes after work.

Potential future leaders that need role models to show them the right way
