Air Peace airline has suspended its flight operations in Nigeria. In a press release on Wednesday, 23 April, 2025 signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo which was made available to The NationGuardNews, the reason for the sudden cancellation was given as ”Due to the ongoing NiMET strike and the unavailability of QNH (hazardous weather) reports required for the safe landings.

According to Dr. Ndiulo in the release, it is because of the above reasons that, ”Air Peace has suspended all flight operations nationwideuntil the strike is over. Your safety is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and will share updates as the situation unfolds.”
Giving instructions to cancel the flights in his office, the Chairman, Barr Allen Onyema asked if NiMET had called off the strike, and the answer was in the negative, he said, ”If NiMET has not cancelled off the strike, suspend all flights now with immediate effect. People’s lives, the safety of our equipment, safety of our crew, safety of people’s lives first and foremost… I don’t want blood in my hand.”
